Looks nice, but isn't very fun.
The graphics are pretty cool, but there are some things the game can do to be better, and it isn't really fun at all. You're essential just solving six jigsaw puzzles at a time, using a frustrating knob position in the corner to rotate the cube. I would either move that dial to the center of the screen (making it transparent of course) or just have the arrow keys be used to rotate the cube. I think that would make the game much more playable.
Actually the game did start out with click-on-cube-to-rotate-it mechanism. But there is a bug associated with that mechanism so had to be dropped. I'll keep your recommendation in mind though. Thanks.
Good, but there's an annoying glitch
The art and the music is great, and the gameplay is pretty good. A rhuthm based tower defense game is a really cool idea.
However, after the first level, I clicked the video tutorial out of curiosity and exited immediately after the Youtube window appeared because I realized it would take a while to load. When the second level started, I heard talking; I thought it was an ad at first but I realized that the video must have been playing in the background and that talking was the audio from it. I couldn't turn it off without quitting midgame and I decided to stop playing after that (I didn't want to repeat a four minute techno song because of a glitch)
It was most likely another window.
Not good, but could be with improvement
Starting with the cons first:
-When you hit an anvil and can't go on, you have to fall back all the way down. It's annoying when you fall down and hit a star that brings you up. All that does is waste time.
-Beating the game left me with a "Wow I really wasted my time feeling" greater than most upgrade games tend to give off.
-Stuff like the bird and the whale that don't affect you are graphically placed so they look like they would do something if touched, so I was dodging them the whole time. I would increase the contrast to make it look like it's in the background, or just not put it there at all.
-The fuel wasn't very useful. It should have given off a much larger boost since a quarter of the game's upgrades regard it.
Here are some pros:
-For the most part the graphics are well drawn
-The boxes that shoot you up make the game more interesting, but I thought they acted like anvils at first
And last I would like to suggest a shorter logo that represents whatever site you're promoting. They look very nice, but people playing an upgrade game are likely not fond of a full minute logo sequence. Also, the music is nice but it gets pretty annoying as it is the only song played throughout the entire game.
Really good game...
...but there's one thing that prevented me from giving this a 10/10. Whenever you drag an object out of the frame it destroys it. I've accidentally done this multiple times, more often than not getting screwed over because I needed that block to finish the level. It that was gone then I wouldn't be able to find anything about the game that's not 10/10.
It's definitely an original and innovative game but I personally have not found much fun in it. I got up to level 5 before giving up, not because it was insanely difficult but I just lacked the motivation to do so. One thing I thought was annoying was how it "autolocked" you on certain surfaces if for example the metal circle was right above the bottom border.
I didn't play through the entire game, but it was enjoyable and difficult at the same time. The music was also nice, as were the graphics. I'd give this a 9, but the music started to play over itself when I went to the main menu. Otherwise, great game!
For the review, this game is one of those art games that show a simple dilemma at first, but one's perspective on the story changes when you find out what it could represent. It was short but very good despite that.
I believe like others that the girl represents heroin. I'm guessing "wrapped herself around my arm" implies that since heroin is injected in the arm, and I'm not sure if the marks ever go away or not. Like any addiction, she constantly nags him, like a heroin addiction would nag someone else. If the person gave in, they would be sent to the hospital due to being "too close" or overdosing. If the player tries to break away, she persistently derides him, and calls him useless. This shows a person's experience from quitting once they're addicted, as they heavily rely on it. Her fading away shows that the player is steadily overcoming the addiction.
I've never played a flash game that me laugh, cry, and let me change my entire perspective on life before. I connected to Mr. Dinosaur immediately, and the character growth he undergoes throughout the story is stellar, and the plot twist with the boss was a shocking turn of events. The game leads to a bittersweet ending, therefore increasing how emotionally powerful this game is. This game is so good, I'm going to blow my life savings to make this into a movie.
Addictive timewaster, but...
Once I got to the levels with the Brown atoms, the game went from mildly enjoyable to really frustrating, and that's where I stopped playing. The game would be better if, instead of having the player automatically lose the level when hitting a brown atom, the player just can't hit anymore atoms after hitting the brown atom.
Graphics are nice and the idea is good, though.
Great visually, but...
The graphics and animations are great, but it really isn't fun to play. Even simply adding a timer would make this game more interesting. To me, this isn't really a game because I don't see a way to win or lose (I got bored after getting 66 points). The game has great potential, but you should make it more enjoyable before submitting it.
Well, it's a beta. And in full version I am gonna add many stuff and modes.
Thanks for the review
